How to Install eBook Frequently Asked Questions
When you purchase a digital eBook from Green Publishing House, you will be able to download any one of three formats (EPUB, MOBI, and PDF) of the book after logging in to your account. Review the frequently asked questions below to learn more about which format will be compatible with your eReader device.
What file format do I need? [Back to Top]
EPUB is typically the most versatile file format for a digital eBook. EPUB files can be read by most tablets (iPad and Nook), smartphones (iPhone and Android), and eReaders (Sony Reader), with the major exception being Amazon Kindle devices. The Amazon Kindle eReaders use a somewhat proprietary file format known as MOBI. MOBI files can also be viewed on iPhone, iPad, and BlackBerry devices, as well as personal computers, via the Kindle App. Other eReaders, however, such as the Nook and Sony Reader, cannot read MOBI files. Personal computers (Windows and Mac) can view PDF, MOBI, and even EPUB files as long as certain software is installed. Read below for more details.
How do I install my downloaded eBook on a personal computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux)? [Back to Top]
Personal computers require specific software to read eBook files. However, most likely, your computer already has some of this software installed, and if not, the following programs can be downloaded and installed on your computer to view eBooks for free:
Adobe Reader and Adobe Digital Editions are just two of many software programs that can view PDF files. PDF files have widespread compatibility and offer exact reproduction of the printed book pages. Adobe Digital Editions is also able to view EPUB files. The advantage of EPUB over PDF is that text flows automatically from page to page, making it easy to change font size and add bookmarks compatible with most eReader devices. Kindle for PC and Kindle for Mac are able to view MOBI files. MOBI files are only viewable on Kindle devices and applications (from Amazon). However, on Kindle devices, MOBI files are similar to EPUB in that text flows automatically from page to page, making it easy to change font size and add bookmarks.
